Program Summary
The focus of this program is on improving profitability at the farm level by addressing key on-farm issues, professionalizing coffee picking and standardizing coffee processing. It works with 1,000 farmers from the Rwenzori area of Uganda. The project also focuses on increasing the quality and export price of Mountain Harvest’s coffee, enabling the company to pay farmers a price at least 20% higher than the prevailing farm gate price and in the long-term, use the additional margin generated from higher prices to invest at the farm level, increasing farm productivity.
The videos below are from the previous phase of this program, which was implemented by LWR and Mountain Harvest in the Mt. Elgon region. The program moved from Mt. Elgon to Rwenzori in August 2024 to reach a new group of participants, but the overall goal is the same.
