Growing Hope Globally Featured At Giving Tuesday Event
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become known as “Giving Tuesday”. It is a day where generosity is encouraged rather than the consumer mentality that comes with the preceding days, designated “Black Friday”, “Small Business Saturday” and “Cyber Monday”.
In celebration of this spirit of generosity, Everence Financial has been holding their #GivingTuesday419 event in Archbold, Ohio for the past four years. The event provides an opportunity for attendees to learn about featured organizations known as “Difference Makers” through an expo and a panel discussion. Throughout the event, participants can donate to the charities of their choice. A generous matching gift is divided proportionally across all gifts given during the evening and provides an extra incentive.
Growing Hope Globally was privileged to be one of the Difference Makers featured at the 2021 event, thanks to the recommendation of local Growing Project leaders. CEO Max Finberg spoke during the panel discussions and our staff and volunteers had the opportunity to connect and reconnect with about 250 people in Northwest Ohio, the place where our organization began 22 years ago. Their generosity was astounding: over $1 million was raised to support 100 different non-profits during the 3 hour event! We are grateful to each person who gave, and to Everence for including Growing Hope Globally in this event.
